The parma that did it

Victoria’s Parma of the Year, straight out of Scott Street

In May 2026 the Creekside took out Parma of the Year at the Australian Hotels Association Victoria State Awards for Excellence. The judges split the top gong three ways, and all three venues scored a perfect hundred. Not bad for a pub that had only been under Skye Dubignon’s ownership for about six months.

“I just did not believe it. Literally just before they announced it, we were sitting there, and I’m like, we have no hope. And then he called the name, and I literally screamed.”

How it is built

The order is the trick. Ham goes on first, then the tomato sauce, then the cheese, so the topping holds together and the cheese caramelises on top.

“I think it’s the caramelisation of the cheeses on top that makes it different,” Skye says. Served the way it always has been, with chips and salad, and gravy, pepper or mushroom sauce on the side.

Bar hours run past the kitchen, so you are welcome to stay for a drink long after the plates have gone.

A hundred and fifty years on the same corner

The Creekside has stood at the top of Scott Street since 1875, two storeys of cream render behind a white iron lacework verandah, looking out across the Yarriambiack. Generations of Warracknabeal have met here.

Today it is run by Skye Dubignon, who also has the Welshpool Hotel down in Gippsland. Her Welshpool team helped shape the menu here and still swap notes with the Creekside kitchen, which is a good part of why a Wimmera pub is holding a state award.
